Montana Peace Officer Memorial Day

The 22nd Annual Montana Peace Officer Memorial Day will be held May 15th, 2010 in Kalispell, Montana. 

The Kalispell Police Department in conjunction with the Montana Highway Patrol will be hosting the events.

2010 Junior Police Leadership Academy

The 2010 JPLA will be held July 11 - 16. 


The Montana Chiefs of Police Association (MACOP) is proud to sponsor the Junior Police Leadership Academy and to make it available at no cost to the youth of Montana.

The Montana Law Enforcement Academy (MLEA), in conjunction with the Helena Police Department, began hosting the Junior Police Academy in June of 2000.  During the one-week program student are introduced to Police Officers, Sheriffs Deputies, Corrections, Detention, Fish & Game Wardens, Montana Highway Patrol, D.E.A., FBI, and US Marshals.  Course highlights include: developing leadership skills, crime scene management, legal issues, use of K9 units, building searches/SWAT, use of force and traffic stops.  

 

 

Students have to complete an application, be sponsored by their local Chief of Police or Sheriff, and type an essay expressing why they are interested in the Criminal Justice Profession and why they should be selected to attend.

2010 Joint Law Enforcement
Training & Convention

June 22- 25, 2010  *  Helena, Montana


We hope you will be as excited as we are about the convention we've put together for you this year.  The training will be top-notch.  It's provided by the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center's (FLETC) rural Policing Institute.  The subject matter and the trainers are excellent.  If you are a city or county with fewer than 50,000 people, your officers will be eligible to have their sleeping rooms paid for, for three nights.  Eligibility requirements are on the registration form.  The registration fee of $150 will cover convention meals, receptions, and a ticket to the Helena Brewers baseball game.

Training topics will include officer-involved shooting, officer health and fitness, preventing officer suicide, law enforcement reintegration after military service, active shooting and use-of-force.

As part of our celebration we recognize those intergral in our profession and in our communities that have significantly contributied to our health, safety and welfare.  Nominations are made by agencies for Medal of Valor, Medal of Honor, Officer of the Year, Administrator of the Year and Citizen of the Year.
